Tears Over What Woman Finds After Detailing Auctioned Car: ‘Broke My Heart’

A woman detailing an auctioned car found an envelope that broke her heart and led to a mad search for the envelope’s rightful owner.

TikTok user @jordynmorris recently began detailing a Mazda vehicle she got at an auction. She opened the glovebox and found the usual items: an owner’s manual, tire warranty and other pamphlets. But hidden within the paperwork was an envelope addressed to a Henley, which definitely did not belong with the car.

In the envelope, she discovered pieces of paper with inked prints of a dog’s paws and nose. She knew immediately that the car’s previous owner didn’t realize these precious items had been left behind. If that wasn’t enough, the dog fur filling the trunk was enough to confirm her suspicion that the owner forgot about these prints. On the video, she wrote these findings “broke my heart.”

The caption on the September 24 TikTok clip reads: “TikTok do your thing and help me find the owners.”

Within a week, the video has amassed over 380,000 views and 61,200 likes on TikTok. People immediately began boosting the clip in hopes of connecting the poster to Henley’s owner.

“Thank you for understanding how important these are & trying to reunite Henley and her guardians,” one viewer wrote.

Another added: “The nose….. my heart just broke!!”

Even the official account for Mazda chimed in: “We hope Henley finds his way back home.”

Others gave the poster suggestions on finding the owner. She said she looked at the car’s VIN number, but that only led to dead ends. Thankfully, social media helped her connect the dots. A viewer apparently ran a reverse VIN number search, found the owner’s number and tracked him down.

She told Newsweek via TikTok that after confirming the right owner, she mailed the envelope. The precious prints are making its way from Kentucky to Tennessee and should arrive in the next day or two.

Henley’s owner posted a reply video to her original clip. In the caption, the owner said they traded in their 2017 Mazda CX-3 about a month ago without realizing what was left behind. Henley lived to be about 14.

“It’s amazing to see the internet join together to reunite us with these precious memories of Henley,” the caption read.

Newsweek reached out to Henley’s owner via TikTok for additional comment.
